The Importance Of Leverage & Why You Need It Now

The last few months for me have been a very busy time in my life. I have been putting together an offer to launch in a CPA (Cost Per Action) Network and it has been extremely challenging and fun.

A CPA network is the ultimate expression of leverage in the affiliate marketing world. It provides business owners with products (digital or tangible) and services to sell the potential to get an unlimited number of sales on a daily basis.

This is accomplished through the affiliate relationships that the network owners have been able to set up. So through the relationship you create with the network owners, you are able to leverage the expertise of their affiliates and generate massive (and consistent) amounts of sales and profits in a very short period of time.

We've been quoted on several occasions that our company reaching 500 to 1000 orders a day within the next 6-9 months as we ramp up and scale our traffic is not going to be a problem.

Can you even imagine that many sales each day right now for your business?

Do you believe its even possible for you?

Can you imagine the leverage and time freedom it could create in your life?

What if there were a way for you to accomplish similar results for yourself without having your own product or service. One that allowed you to plug into a proven system that provided you with a different kind of leverage.

The leverage of utilizing the knowledge, expertise, resources, success stories, software, and products of another company or individual. This is the basic premise of how affiliate marketing, network marketing, and the direct sales industries work.

You have the ability (with a minimal investment) to start your own home business, not have to worry about 90% of the traditional business headaches and overhead (no employees either), but yet still have the ability to earn incomes of 6 figures or 7 figures within your first year.

This is exactly what happened to my wife and I several years back and we have leveraged that success (or invested our time, money, and experience) into growing a hybrid skin care business that employs traditional pieces combined with internet marketing pieces to keep overhead very low.

Combined with the leverage of CPA networks and the potential of sales and stability they can bring to the table, we are poised to explode this business over the coming year. The sky is the limit where we take it from there.

In the meantime, we continue to participate in the direct sales industry leveraging someone else's system to continue earning multiple 5 figures per month.

So the lessons for you today should be very simple:

1. Stop trying to build success online the hard way on your own.

2. Find a mentor/coach who can guide you and...

3. Make sure to leverage a proven system that can help you reach success ten times faster than you could do on your own.

Trust me, we tried it the hard way for 5 years online and failed miserably. Then we tried it with a proven system and a great mentor, and within 90 days we were making five figures plus per month in profits (not revenue but net profit) and have never looked back.

I don't share this with you to impress you, but to impress upon you the opportunity you have available to you right now. Don't make the same mistakes we did. Learn from our mistakes and hopefully you will make this easier on yourself and your family.

I Know It's Been A While... But I'm Back Like Jordan!

I feel like I have been on vacation from blogging, even though for the past 5 months I have been creating content through video like crazy. So its not for being lazy... well lets call it like it really is... I was lazy!

I guess you could say that the roundabout reason I have not posted to my blog in 5 months is I have been busy with business. But that is not fair to you, so I will just say that I appreciate you sticking with me through my "moment" (yeah I know it is a long moment) of laziness.

It took another moment of being 100% honest with myself to realize what exactly was really going on, even though I didn't really want to admit that.

But the good news is that I'm back (like my boy MJ) for good and I plan to post a lot more often than I used to in the past when I was regular... no pun intended. I did have a point to this post, oh yeah my laziness.

You see it can happen to anyone. If you take your eye of the ball for a moment, you get smacked right in the head. It can be very easy to NOT do the things you are supposed to do.

In fact, as I have found out over the last 5 months, it is much easier NOT to do something than it is to follow through with your word. You see we are all attracted to the lazy side of life. That little voice in your head that tells you tomorrow is another day and it can wait.

Well to be quite honest with you, whatever IT is for you CAN'T wait. If you truly want to be successful in all areas of your life including internet marketing, there is no tomorrow. Today is all you have and you better make the best of it!

One of my favorite quotes is from Kim Lyons and it goes like this, "Yesterday is a canceled check; Tomorrow is a promissory note; Today is the only cash you have, so spend it wisely."

Whether it is spending more time with your spouse (or girlfriend) and kids, making sure you eat right and work out each day, bringing your A game to the internet marketing arena (or in my case writing a simple blog post every once in a while), and most importantly, spending time with God and his word each day, there is no tomorrow.

So learn it from me, don't be lazy. Turn OFF the TV and the video games. Stop watching videos on Youtube, listening to music on Pandora, or wasting your time on Facebook, Twitter, or Myspace.

Find the right mentor to follow and just get to work going after your goals and dreams. You'll be happy to know that most of them are already right in front of you to grab and enjoy, if you just open up your eyes and stop being lazy.

Did I just zing myself here again one last time? Who knows, but I feel better now that my laziness is behind me and this post is done.

Life continues tomorrow and I'm prepared to enjoy every precious moment of it. What are you going to do?

Without 'Knowing Your Why' You Can't Break Brick Walls

I often get asked how we have been able to build up such a successful online business over the last 11 months. For most people I guess it still boggles the mind how we were able as a young family to survive such an offline business catastrophe and still manage to jump online and build what we now have.

Well for me it comes down to one success principle, and that is "Knowing Your Why." I have always known that having an idea of why you are starting a business affected the results you would have, but until meeting my online coach/mentor last year I did not realize how critical it really was.

You see my belief system (like many other people I know and meet) had been developed by my parents, family members, and friends that I had allowed into my inner circle. None of them really knew what it would take to be successful in business, since they had never ventured into that world.

Therefore, I wasn’t just green to business; I was probably more like purple. :-) When I started my now defunct offline printing business, I did not have someone to be there to help me. I did not have an advisor, someone who could guide me or shed the light on the mistakes I was making.

I was trying to play the offline business game at a high level without a coach and without knowing how or what to practice on. Even though I felt completely out of my league... I still expected to have great results. It is difficult to admit, but for the most part I flubbed my way through the everyday activities of this business.

Don't get me wrong here I worked very hard, but because I did not know my 'Why'... I had no idea what direction I was headed in much less how to get there. I was taking it one day at a time and I figured one day I would wake up and all of the hard work would culminate in the ultimate breakthrough of massive profits.

No plan, no direction, no goals, no time management, and no one to run ideas by or get input from. This led to many preventable mistakes and boy did they pile up. When the recession finally hit our area, I was as exposed as a baby's behind is when it is born into this world.

Less than eight months later I had to close the business for good. In the process I learned some keys lessons. I don't have to know it all to be successful, but I do need to know the people who have the answers when I need them.

I needed to stop doing life on my own (when it came to starting and running a business), and I needed to find other people who had achieved the success I was wanting in my life and attach myself to their right hip. I needed to follow someone else to my success, so then I could then stand up to be the leader I wanted to be.

This finally happened when my online coach/mentor sat down with me and said, "Juan, what do you really want? Without you knowing exactly (down to the most miniscule detail) what it is that YOU want, you will always continue having the same result of failure."

So with his help and the help of an online community full of coaches like this, my wife and I wrote down exactly what we wanted. We set goals (income and lifestyle related) with specific time frames, we learned how to manage our time better to be 10 times more productive, and we plugged in and followed their plan step-by-step.

The result? Our lives have totally been transformed. Not only did we reach our goals in half the time we allotted ourselves, but we are now helping other people do the same for themselves.

One of my favorite quotes from this community is recited almost every day by someone I have come to know and trust, Mr. John Jackson. He states, "Do something good for some else today in the knowing that they can never repay you."

The Pursuit Of Happiness Begins With A Decision

As I correspond with people from all walks of life on the internet, I find that there is one main culprit that always sabotages their ability to build a successful online business. It's not so much their lack of knowledge, skill sets, or resources, but more to do with their mindset.

You see most people are not taught to make good decisions in their lives. They are taught the total opposite, to be leary and afraid of making decisions because if you make mistakes or fail, it is a very bad thing. There are even more negative connotations when it comes starting your own business and being your own boss.

This came to the forefront in my life again as I was talking with a nice lady yesterday who had just started an online business. She said that her husband was not supportive and his negativity was getting to the point where he would make her feel bad if she was trying to get something positive accomplished.

She believed she had made a great decision for herself and her family, but since he thought that she was just wasting her time and money, he made the choice to try and derail her before she really got going. Not sure if he was doing it on purpose (I would not think so), or if he subconsciously was trying to sabotage her so he could win an argument.

The whole point is that whether he was doing it on purpose or not did not matter. His negativity was definitely breaking her down mentally and making her second guess her decision. In her mind, she was starting to think that their current circumstances were not ideal for starting this business and she was contemplating quitting.

Why was she thinking this way... because after a making a decision we need some positive reinforcement. We need someone to give us confidence that what we are attempting to do in our lives is not only worthwhile, but will produce the results we are looking for if we take positive action.

So after talking with me for 30 minutes, she quickly figured out that getting through these obstacles and achieving success had nothing to do with her current circumstances, and more to do with her mindset. She had originally made the decision to start the business, now she had to make the decision to follow through with purpose, determination, and positive action (by becoming productive at traffic generation).

She also had to make the decision to stand up to her husband and let him know that until he started helping her try to achieve success in the business so that they could better their family situation, that he was not allowed to make any negative comments. In fact, she let him know that if he did not have anything positive to say, to not say anything at all.

These decisions (as long as she sticks to them) will pay dividends in the near future for her new business. All that is left for her to do is to get to work and add some follow through to her decision making. This is the final step that takes the most amount of effort, but is what makes the journey we take with our businesses worthwhile.

We all have the ability within us to create whatever lifestyle that we want. We are not shackled by our circumstances like most people believe they are. If this were the case, then we would not see stories of people being homeless and then becoming multi-millionaires within a few years.

We would not see movies like "The Pursuit Of Happyness", where a person can go from living in poverty to very successful in a short amount of time. All it takes is making a decision and then sticking to that decision and following through.

I know that I make it sound simple in principle and your probably thinking that it is much harder than that, but it is NOT. Once the decision is made then the path to success opens up. The rest is up to you to follow through with positive and productive action. What are you pursuing today?

Do You Feel Like A Fish Out Of Water Online?

I don't know what it is about internet marketing that makes people feel like fish out of water. Maybe its the fact that information online is so readily available that we feel we have to digest ALL of it.

We feel that we have to be such great students to be able to generate success with an online business. I mean it makes sense, we are creatures of habit and many of us love learning new things.

In fact that is what keeps life exciting and keeps us growing as human beings... the new things that we learn each day. But I guess my gripe with all of this is when people get overwhelmed by the same information they are learning.

So let me ask you a question. If someone handed you ten books to read today, all different subjects pertaining to internet marketing, and told you that if you study these books you could become a huge success and create a new lifestyle for yourself... would you read all ten at the same time?

I wouldn't. But let's say you are trying to read all of them at the same time, don't you think it would be difficult if not impossible to apply or put into practice what you read, with ten different topics roaming around in your head?

This happens everyday as people try to take on too much information and then have a hard time figuring out why they did not get results. Real simple, the mind can only handle 1-2 things at a time, especially with all of the other things going on in our lives.

I also know from experience that the best way to learn something and then get use out of what you learn is by taking one book at a time. What if instead of reading all ten books at once, you made it a goal to read one book every 2-4 weeks and apply into your online business what you learned?

Don't you think now you would have a better chance at actually getting some results? Of course you would. In fact, at the end of six months you would probably have a very thriving business online from everything that you learned and applied.

This is exactly how I recommend my students to approach their businesses, from the stand point of taking one new marketing method or internet marketing discipline at a time. If you look at tackling the internet marketing world this way, here are the rewards you can expect:

1. With time you will master each discipline you are learning (by developing a new skill).

2. With time you will implement each discipline (applying your new skill) and have it create results in your business.

3. With time you will build up value in your niche and be able to leverage that same level of mastery (with the new skill) to help other people do the same for themselves.

When this happens, you are now generating as much money as you want from your online business. So let me give you a direct example. Let's say you want to learn about Social Media.

Would it make sense to you to take on 10 different social media outlets at one time or to just take on one like Twitter first? I would prefer taking on Twitter first, developing my skills there, and then taking those new skills and applying them to the other social media outlets.

Not only would my results be better, but now I would be equipped to help other people do the same. Now, there is one key thing I have left out all of this and that is you MUST take action!

You must stop sitting on the sidelines expecting results by simply learning and NOT applying. The key to knowledge is not that you acquire it, but rather that you take action with that knowledge and try to make the world a better place than how you found it.

The internet marketing world provides a level playing field for anyone willing to go through the process of learning, applying, and mastering new skills. How are you approaching your online business today?

You Get What You Focus On

The end of the year is upon us. As I sit here reflecting about all the trials and tribulations I have wrestled with this year, I have a deep sense of gratitude that I have been able to fulfill my promises.

A promise to take care of a newborn daughter, a promise to save our household from certain demise, and a promise to be better than the year before. You see this year has taken my wife and I on a journey from the depths of complete and utter failure offline, to the heights of infinite success on the internet.

This year life threw everything negative that it could our way, but we still prevailed. We suffered, we had frustrations, we doubted our abilities to survive, but we still prevailed. Thank you God.

As I turn 29 years young tomorrow, I can truly say that this year (2009) has been one of the most trying years in my life. At the same time, it has been one of the most life altering experiences, filled with joy, love, and lots of successes as well.

With darkness there is always light right around the corner. My wife and I had a choice to make this year, do we allow the current failures we were going through at the time to define our future, or do we decide to stand up and fight and do something different?

Well we chose to stand up and start an online business. We chose to FOCUS on the positive things that might happen with this new business rather than to focus on all the negative things that were happening around us.

We chose to follow the simple steps provided by an online community and our mentor instead of trying to reinvent the wheel ourselves. And finally, we chose to put in the hard work each day to get the results that we wanted.

What did we get in return?

The greatest gift we could have never asked for; the ability to have the time to raise our daughter the way we wanted. We could actually work from home, make money online, and watch her grow.

Experience her saying her first words. Experience her crawling and walking for the first time. And moving forward we know that we will be the parents who are always there for their child.

It has definitely been a life altering year and if I had to do it over again, I would not change anything. You see it was our ability to focus in times of dispair that allowed us to shine when our world was the darkest.

By focusing and being relentless toward our goals, the results were extraordinary. Are you focusing on the positive aspects of your life each day, or are you dwelling only on the negative?

Do You Believe You Can Make Money Online?

As I wrap up another Friday watching the NBA on ESPN, I am sitting here reflecting on some of the conversations I had with people who called me this week to learn how to make money online. Although each conversation was different, there was one recurring theme that kept coming up.

Almost every person I talked with had a deep fear of failure. They were so afraid of it, they had almost become paralyzed into a state of permanent indecision.

They obviously were not happy with their current lives and wanted to make a change, but the thought of putting themselves out there and getting burned again was just too much.

But there was one gentleman this week who although had been burned in the past, was willing to move forward. You see he had been working as a laborer for the same company for the last 35 years!

I'm talking about hard manual labor here folks, not the run of the mill sit down in a cubicle all day job. Although those jobs stink for their own reasons.

Now, this gentleman had been giving 100% at his job for so long, that he was finally contemplating retirement. Only one problem, he couldn't retire because the investments he had been building for that same period of time had all but disentegrated in the recent economic downturn.

So he turned to the Internet to see if he could find a way to create a retirement income and walk away permanently from his laborer job. After struggling to find a way to make money online for the past few months, he decided to give me a call today.

We spoke for about 30 minutes and at the end of the call he decided that he was going to follow in my footsteps. He wants to use the same formula for success that I use to finally retire and buy a vacation home in South Florida.

He wants to build his business online over the next 6-12 months and then spend his days on his boat fishing. I think with internet marketing he can accomplished that! :-)

In fact, I have no doubt in my mind that he will follow through on what we teach him and that he will have success making money online. The reason, because his desire and will to walk away from his current job is stronger than his fear of failure.

His desire and will to finally have the life that he has always wanted is much stronger than any obstacles life can throw at him, especially online. He does not care that he has limited computer skills, because he will learn as he goes.

He does not care that he does not have all of his ducks in a row, because he knows he will be following a step by step plan that works. So with blind faith, a positive attitude, and a will as strong as I have seen in a while, he begins his journey towards success.

So what will you do? The next time you find another potential vehicle to make money online with... will you continue to be afraid of failure or will you finally break through your fear and go after the success in your life that you deserve? If you care about your future I hope it is the latter.
